Two-letter words are Scrabble's most profitable resource: they let you slot tiles into tiny spaces and build parallel plays that form several words at once.

Common examples

AA, AB, AD, AE, AG, AH, AI, AL, AM, AN, AR, AS, AT, AW, AX, AY, BA, BE, BI, BO… Memorising them gives you a big edge in tight endings.

Why they matter

When you add a tile next to an existing word you form a new perpendicular word. If that new word is a valid two-letter word, your play is legal and often lands on a premium square.

Practise spotting them in puzzle mode.
